St. Mary Canal Diversion Works

NW Construction

2026

Easton Companies is proud to be involved in the rehabilitation of the St. Mary Canal and Conveyance Works, a crucial infrastructure system supporting the Milk River Project in north-central Montana. This project is vital for providing water to over 120,000 people, serving the region’s irrigation, municipal and recreational needs.

Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the St. Mary Canal has been essential for diverting water from the St. Mary River to the Milk River, benefiting Montana’s Hi-Line region. However, after more than a century of service, the aging infrastructure is due for significant upgrades. The St. Mary Rehabilitation Working Group, in collaboration with local stakeholders, federal agencies and partners like Easton Companies, is leading the modernization efforts to ensure this vital water system continues to meet the needs of the communities it serves.

Collaborative Approach

Easton Companies is committed to working closely with the General Contractor NW Construction, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, local irrigation districts and the St. Mary Rehabilitation Working Group, and Milk River Project.

The St. Mary Canal rehabilitation exemplifies how partnerships between public and private sectors can successfully address aging infrastructure while safeguarding critical resources. For Montana’s Hi-Line region, this project is particularly important, as it supports local agriculture, municipal water supplies and overall economic health.

Easton Companies is honored to be part of this essential project and is dedicated to delivering high-quality results that will benefit the region for years to come. Our teams are gearing up for concrete construction to begin Spring 2025.
